City Centre

The focal point of the City Centre area is Grey's Monument located at the top end of Grey Street, regarded by some as one of the finest streets in the country. The Monument Metro Station, Eldon Square and Monument Mall shopping centres are all situated around this area and further down the road you can find the impressive building of the Theatre Royal.

The City Centre pubs are spread out over a wide area and range from old traditional styled pubs used by
locals to the more up market bars frequented by the young crowd.

Monument

Most of the pubs are very popular with locals, business people and those shopping in Eldon Square and Northumberland Street. Also a number of pubs can get fairly busy in the evenings with the young crowd, being a good stopping off point before hitting the main pubs of the Bigg Market and Quayside areas.

For those visiting the city there is a tourist information centre situated in Grainger Street. The new City Library is currently being built and is due to open in 2009.
