Large traditional Newcastle pub that is part of the Stonegate pub chain and is best described as the bar with a heart in the heart of the city.

The pub has two main entrances that lead through to a lounge and a select bar. There are also two entrances inside the pub that lead onto Grainger Market at the rear of the pub.

A rectangular bar covers both the lounge and select bar areas. The lounge area has leather high backed seating with plenty of tables and chairs.

There is low drop down ball lighting and the walls are adorned with numerous pictures of film stars and caricatures.

The bar area also has ample seating with plenty of tables and chairs throughout and there is a small raised stage area at the rear where the karaoke is performed.

Both of the bars have a large drop down screen that features live sports, including football, six nations rugby matches and horse racing. The screen in the bar is also used to show the lyrics of the songs when the karaoke is on.

Karaoke is featured on a Friday - Monday from 6pm - close. Friday night with Ophelia Balls. Saturday night is disco night from 7pm - close. Sunday Quiz night from 6pm.

There is regular music on play most of the time that creates a lively atmosphere. The pub is very popular and extremely busy at all times with a regular clientele of locals, an older crowd and market traders.

Disabled access very good with the pub all on one level. Toilets are small and clean.

Price: Very Reasonable.
