"UPMARKET" NEWCASTLE PUB CRAWL    -----  CENTRAL STATION, DIAMOND STRIP & QUAYSIDE

Some of these pubs & bars may be permanently closed due to Covid 19 restrictions.

Start this crawl at Florita's
Florita's
which is just along from the Central Station - enjoy a cocktail or two at this stylish bar - you may spot a celebrity or Newcastle footballer as this bar is popular with VIP's/celebrities.
On leaving the bar turn left along Collingwood Street. After a short walk of about 20 metres past The House of Smith (the sister bar to Florita's) you will find a bar called Perdu
Perdu

This ultra stylish bar is a popular venue on the weekend with a DJ and live music on certain nights. It is linked to The Blackie Boy bar by a back lane, that also leads through to The Bigg Market.

On leaving the bar, turn left again and continue walking past the bottom end of the Bigg Market. Continue walking past 'Flares' until you reach the next bar The Vineyard
The Vineyard
This small wine bar has a good range of wines on offer and is a popular venue on most nights.

After leaving The Vineyard cross over by the traffic lights and you will see Leila Lily's
Leila Lily's
on the other side of Grey Street.
This new bar/restaurant and club is named after the owner's daughter. There is a varied wine and cocktail menu, a full restaurant menu and Club Lounge 212 which is open from 9pm.

After leaving turn left to the corner and cross at the traffic lights. Cross over the lights by Portofino's restaurant and walk past The Miller Carter Steakhouse, about 50 metres up the road. You will then find our next venue.
Bijoux
Bijoux
is a luxebar that is very popular on the diamond strip. There is special offers on drinks on most nights and a lively atmosphere on a weekend. Some Like it Hot night club is located above Bijoux. This is a gentleman's lap dancing club that is popular on most nights.

After leaving Bijoux cross turn right doubling back the way you came until you reach The Miller Carter Steakhouse located on the corner at the top of the bank leading down to the Quayside.
Turn right and then head down the bank to The Quayside. If you fancy something to eat now then you are in the right place with several restaurants to choose from.

If you take the first right along The Side there is a nice Tapas bar/restaurant called El Torero (See picture to right of page).

If you are still in the drinking mood cross over the road and visit Brewdog
Brewdog

This Scottish craft beer bar serves a range of real ales and bottles from the Brewdog range which makes a nice change from the usual range of beers on offer. There is a DJ on play in the evening that attracts a steady crowd of revellers.

On leaving Brewdog carry on down the towards the Quayside. Walk past 'Akenside Traders' and you will see the next bar on which is The Bridge Tavern
The Bridge Tavern

The Bridge Tavern serves a fine range of house real ales and it is worth spending time to sample a few on the rooftop terrace which is under the Tyne Bridge.

After leaving The Bridge Tavern turn left and follow the river along toward your final destination. The final bar Pitcher & Piano
Pitcher & Piano
is definately worth the walk being about 200 metres along the side of the river.
Pitcher & Piano is opposite the Millennium Bridge and is exceptionally busy on most nights. It attracts an upmarket crowd with a range of cocktails available.
If you still haven't eaten then there is an Italian restaurant/bar Gusto with a large outside seating area. This is the end of your pub crawl and you should have enjoyed some of the more upmarket places in Newcastle.

If you fancy taking in a club then you need to re-trace your steps back along the river and you will find a selection to choose from with The Riverside a popular choice with the upmarket crowd.
