WW1 Centenary Ales
Ian Johnson a volunteer for the NEWMP charity, started a major fund raising beer campaign.

He has been working with a local brewery, Hadrian Border Brewery to produce four WW1 Centenary Ales to commemorate the Tyneside Scottish, Tyneside Irish, Newcastle Commercials and Durham Light Infantry.


He will be selling gift packs with a specially designed glass, bottles and draught all profits from the sales of the beers will be used in the North East to help fund some of the commemoration events being planned for the end of WWI in 2018.

Recently a memorial has been placed on the Somme Battlefied in France to honour the Newcastle Commercials and funded six memorial seats that have been sited on the banks of the Tyne and Saltwell Park in Gateshead.

The date launch for the WW1 Centenary Charity Ales was on Sunday 8th May 2016 at the banqueting suite Newcastle Civic Centre, welcoming the dignataries standards, colour parties etc at for a photo oppotunity and talk to the press etc then opening the doors to the veterans and invited public.

The launch was in the form of a beer festival and there was commemorative glasses to buy at £3.00 per glass and four types of ale to try at £3.00 per bottle, boxed gift sets at £9.95 per box.
