Medium sized old Newcastle pub located a short walk from the Haymarket that dates back to the 19th century.

The pub has a small wooden bar and a wooden floor and there is plenty of seating with tables and chairs around the walls and in a raised area at one side of the pub.

There is also a small area to the right of the main entrance that is carpeted and has further seating.

The decor is predominantly a mixture of maroon and cream colours with wooden fixtures. There is a selection of beer and old Newcastle pictures on the walls.

Live sport is shown on a Big screen TV with all live football and six nations rugby featured.

Regular music is on play at most times. Several games machines are dotted about. Cash back facility is available.

The pub is frequented by a mixed clientele of students, locals and business people. It also attracts the football crowd on match days.

It can get busy at times due to its position near to Newcastle university and the football ground.

A function room is available upstairs that can be booked for parties, discos, meetings, presentations or buffets.

A quiz night is held every Tuesday night from 9pm with £2.00 per entry for 2 rounds. A pool table is located to the left of the bar.

Disabled access is reasonable to the main bar but can be a little difficult to the toilets that are down a small flight of stairs. Toilets are small and in reasonable order.

Price: Reasonable.
