Traditional Newcastle pub with an L shaped wooden bar and a part carpeted and wooden floor.
There is plenty of seating with tables and chairs around the walls and to the rear of the pub. In the centre of the bar there is also a large standing area. The large windows to the front makes the pub very bright and airy. There is a small fireplace to the rear and a selection of beer and old Newcastle pictures on the walls. Large mirrors to each side of the bar and to the rear give a more expansive feel to the place. Live sport is shown on a Big screen TV with all live football and six nations rugby featured. There is also several widescreen plasma TV's located throughout the bar which makes this an excellent place for watching live sport. Regular music is on play at most times. Several games machines are dotted about. A lively but comfortable atmosphere prevails most of the time with a mixed clientele of students & locals and business people. Can get very busy due to its position near the metro and bus station and the university. The bar is fully air conditioned with ceiling fans used at certain times. A heated part covered beer alley is open for smokers. Quiz night on a Tuesday from 8pm with discounted drinks. Disabled access very good to main bar and toilets. Toilets are small and in good order. Price: Reasonable. |
