The bar was which was formerly known as Flynns and more recently Charts has reopened on 7th September 2022 as a new bar/restaurant. It has been named Chart House as this historic building was formerly used as a map house by sailors setting off from the Tyne. The bar is set out over 4 levels with a bar on the first floor an another bar on the top level. There are large windows to the front of the bar that afford spectacular views of the River Tyne, Sage Theatre and new water feature. Artwork is displayed on the exposed brick walls and is available to purchase. The bar has a wooden floor and there is plenty of seating throughout on all levels for diners. There is further tables and chairs as you enter the bar in what used to be the lane at the side. The low drop down lighting, spotlighting and candles on tables gives a cosy feel to the place in the evening. At the front there is a small outside terrace area which is used in fine weather. Regular music is on play at most times with Jazz Social featured every Sunday from 3pm. Blues Band every Wednesday from 8pm. Disabled access to the bar is good with a disabled toilet on the ground level. Toilets are small and clean. Price:Moderate. |
