A large sylish bar in the Gate complex that
has 2 levels. The bar has a large
glass fronted exterior with an impressive glass
entrance. This gives a bright and airy feel to the
place during the day. From the main entrance the
semi circular shaped bar is directly opposite and
there is a large staircase to the left hand side
that leads to the second floor. The decor is of a
modern design with modern fitments throughout and a
part tiled and wooden floor.
There is comfortable
leather seating and the bar has a very spacious feel
with plenty of standing room. The spotlighting over
the bar and subdued lighting in the evening creates
a cosy and relaxed atmosphere. Regular music is on
play at most times with a DJ booth located in the
upstairs area.
The upstairs bar is decked out in
much the same style as the rest of the bar and there
is further seating and another smaller bar. There
are widescreen TV's upstairs and downstairs that
show live sport including premiership football and six nations
rugby. DJ Mad Mick and his legendary/infamous pre- match show has relocated
from the Sports Cafe this season to Beyond Bar.
The former Idols DJ and a bevvy of bonny lasses appear live at Beyond for three hours
before and two hours after every Newcastle home match. A large restaurant is located to one side of the bar. The
upstairs level is available free for private hire - ask
at the bar for details. There is further seating
outside that spills onto the main Gate thoroughfare. Salsa night every Tuesday from 7pm.
The bar attracts an upmarket clientele, business
people and those visiting the Gate complex and Odeon
cinema. It is popular at most times and very busy at the weekend.
Disabled access is very
good with a designated disabled toilet at the rear
on the ground floor. Toilets are small and
immaculately clean.
